About 11:50 p.m., police approached a group of “suspicious males” outside in the 1300 block of West 13th Street, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
One of the people in the group was holding his waistband. As officers came up, he ran. Officers ran after him, and during the chase, the suspect allegedly pointed his weapon in the officers’ direction, Alfaro said.
One officer fired shots, but no one was hit or injured.
Shortly afterward, the man was taken into custody. Charges against him were pending as of early Monday.
