Prosecutors allege Annette Minnis pushed down the 67-year-old woman and stole her purse containing credit cards, cash, personal identification and an iPhone. Aurora police said they were able to apprehend Minnis with the help of a witness who photographed the license plate on Minnis’ car and a relative of the elderly woman who tracked the stolen phone to an apartment in Downers Grove where the purse was located
During a court appearance before Kane County Judge James Hallock, Minnis was appointed a public defender to represent her in the case. Court records indicate Minnis planned to seek a reduction of her $150,000 bail, but jail officials confirmed Minnis was released on Wednesday after posting the required $15,000 bond. She is scheduled to return to court Sept. 22.
Various records indicate Minnis has a lengthy criminal history, which includes previous felony convictions for robbery that led to prison time.
