A trucking company may build a warehouse and distribution facility in Montgomery.

Philip Danner, of Old Dominion Freight Lines, told Montgomery officials he wants to annex an 18-acre property on Aucutt Road into the village. He said he then wants to build a warehouse and distribution center in the industrial area there.

“We will bring some 119 jobs and a tax base,” Danner said.

Jerad Chipman, a senior planner with Montgomery, said the plan conforms to the land-use policy for that property.

Plans call for a 51,000-square-foot building that would be divided into office space and a freight distribution center. Plans also call for an accessory structure with a fuel station for the purpose of fueling trucks associated with the business.

Trustee Denny Lee said he supports the plan.

“It makes common sense,” he said after the village’s Planning Commission recommended the proposal.

The first reading of the proposal will go before the Village Board on Monday night. Danner said he hopes to have his facility up and running by the end of the year.

Old Dominion recently withdrew a petition to build a truck depot near Ferry Road Farms subdivision at Meridian and Sunrise roads in an unincorporated area near Aurora, after residents objected to the plan. Residents said they were concerned about traffic and noise to be generated by the proposed facility.
