No one hurt when window shatters on 53rd floor of Loop high-rise

No one was injured when a window shattered on the 53rd floor of an office tower in the Loop Thursday morning, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the Three First National Plaza at 70 West Madison around 11:10 a.m., according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. The building is 57 stories high.

“The window washer broke the window,” said Mimi Simon, a spokeswoman for the city’s department of buildings. “The building owner is taking responsibility to make sure the repairs are complete, and the building is safe, and in accordance with the Chicago building code.”
