An 18-year-old Evanston woman faces weapons charges after she allegedly broke a window at a laundromat and police found a stun gun in her purse, according to the city’s police department.
Diauna Howard, of the 1800 block of Hartrey Avenue, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon on June 26, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Joe Dugan.
Dugan said officers were dispatched to a laundromat in the 700 block of Howard Street at about 5 a.m. for a report of an alleged theft by Howard. Police said Howard became irate and allegedly broke out a window at the laundromat. When officers arrested Howard, they discovered a stun gun in her purse, Dugan said. Howard was treated at St. Francis Hospital after sustaining cuts to her wrist from breaking the window, he said. Police said the owner of the laundromat refused to sign any criminal complaints against Howard.
Howard is due in court July 22.
