A woman was hit and killed after she jumped or fell in front of a Blue Line train at the Harlem station on the Northwest Side, authorities said.

A 30-year-old woman was hit and killed by a CTA train about 8:50 p.m. at the station at 5550 block of North Harlem Avenue, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 8:53 p.m. and turned over the incident to police after making no transports, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman said.

Authorities were investigating the possibility that the woman may have jumped in front of the train to kill herself.

A northbound train made contact with a passenger about 8:40 p.m., and emergency crews were called, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The CTA was running shuttle buses between the Jefferson Park and Rosemont stations, and shuttle trains between Rosemont and O’Hare, Hosinski said. Check the CTA’s website for updated travel information.
