Three Evanston residents face misdemeanor charges following a mob action incident outside a restaurant in downtown Evanston, police said.

Shawn Gallimore, 25, of the 1800 block of Grey Avenue, Demitrius R. Bogan, 20, of the 1900 block of Wesley Avenue, and Maliq D. Banks, 19, of the 1600 block of Pitner Avenue, were charged with misdemeanor mob action following a brawl involving dozens outside a cafe on the 1600 block of Orrington Avenue on May 22. Miguel Delgado, 31, of the 2100 block of Dewey Avenue, was charged with disobedience to police, an ordinance violation, for allegedly refusing to leave the area and attempting to get involved in the altercation, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joe Dugan.

Police responded to the area at approximately 2 a.m. and found 20 to 30 people gathered outside the restaurant and wine bar.

“When officers arrived there was a large disturbance in the street with bottles and chairs flying around so they called for assistance from neighboring departments,” Dugan said. EPD received backup from Northwestern University and Skokie police. Tasers were drawn during the incident, according to a statement released by EPD.

Dugan said the restaurant was hosting a private party when the fight broke out. Two women initially got into an argument “which branched out to guys fighting,” he said.

Dugan said Gallimore, Bogan and Banks were involved in the altercation.

Banks, Bogan and Gallimore are due in court at 9 a.m. June 13 and Delgado is scheduled for a court appearance at 9 a.m. June 27.
