Police are warning Roseland-area residents after a man tried to grab a 14-year-old girl off the street in the neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The girl was walking in the 200 block of West 108th Street just before 8:30 a.m. when she saw a man in a silver sedan following her, according to a police alert.

The man got out of the car and grabbed the girl, but she was able to break from him and run away, according to police.

The attacker was described as a black man in his 30s, with a thin build, about 5-foot-10, with a gap between his front teeth and his hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was wearing a blue coat with writing on the front.

The car was described as possibly being a 2008 to 2012 Chevrolet Malibu.

Anyone with information about the attack or the attacker is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8271.
