The following items were discussed at the village of Norridge Board of Trustees meeting on April 27.

Village approves summer block parties

The Village Board approved two requests for summer block parties during the April 27 board meeting. The block parties will be held from 1 to 10 p.m. Aug. 13 on the 8200 block of Wilson Avenue and from 1 to 10 p.m. Aug. 27 on the 4900 block of Clifton Avenue.

Police department loses two employees

Emergency dispatcher Antonio Carone submitted his resignation to the village, effective June 5. Carone worked for the village for 18 years.

Police Officer Robert Turano plans to resign after 30 years with the police department on Aug. 17.

New employees hired

Salvatore Scaletta was hired as a part-time Pace bus driver for the village. The Village Board approved a pay rate of $20 per hour.

Joseph Spain, a public works laborer and water meter technician for the village of Norridge, was promoted to superintendent of the public works department during the April 27 Village Board meeting. Spain was hired for a one-year term ending April 30, 2017, according to the village.

Village hosting host annual car show in June

The village of Norridge’s second annual car show will be held on June 11 at Divine Savior Church, 7740 W. Montrose Ave.

Trophies and goodie bags will be awarded to the first 125 cars and specialty awards will be issued in several categories, including Village President’s Choice, People’s Choice, Participant’s Choice, Pastor’s Pick, and Best Beep-Beeper.

The car show will also include live music, a raffle and a trivia contest. Proceeds from a $15 registration fee will benefit local charities.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the day of the show, and voting will take place between noon and 1 p.m. Trophies will be issued at 2 p.m.

Next board meeting scheduled

The next meeting of the village of Norridge Board of Trustees will be held on May 11 at village hall, 4000 N. Olcott Ave.
