Well, color us flattered. Chicago-based graphic illustrator and designer Renee Rolewicz crafted a mini-RedEye box and we are in love.

The box is made out of cardboard, a recycled T-shirt and duct tape and is topped-off with balled-up holiday socks. Complete with its own tiny paper, headlined “2012 Chicago Homicide Report” (an arbitrary choice, she says), the box is fully functional and super cute.
Rolewicz, 22, who lives in the Loop, works as a freelance designer at Sun-Times Media while she finishes her senior year at Columbia College Chicago. If you couldn’t tell already, RedEye is her “favorite news source,” she said.
She made the mini-us as part of a project for an editorial illustration class to “break the boundaries of what editorial means.” The aim was to capture something “mundane, but that you still enjoy.” Rolewicz chose RedEye since she reads it every day (and does the sudoku religiously).
“I thought it’d be cute to take something like the RedEye box that’s really red and huge and make it something small,” Rolewicz said. And she was right, it’s downright adorable.
