Police were questioning possible suspects Thursday in the fatal shooting of a 62-year-old man on the West Side earlier this week.
The man was identified as Robert Howard Jr., 62, and he was shot Tuesday in the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street, the same block where he had lived, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Howard died of multiple gunshot wounds after being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the shooting happened about 6 p.m. Tuesday, and the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police were questioning people Thursday evening in connection with the shooting, according to a police spokesman.
The shooting may have been related to a previous altercation with a neighbor, police said earlier.
