A man found shot in an alley in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood more than four years ago died this week of complications from his wounds, an autopsy determined Wednesday.
Ricardo Villanueva, 35, who had lived in the 4800 block of South Hoyne Avenue, was pronounced dead at a nursing home in Burbank at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Following an autopsy Wednesday, the office determined Villanueva died of gunshot wounds he suffered Dec. 11, 2011, in the 6000 block of South Francisco Avenue.
The victim was discovered after someone heard shots and found him lying in a pool of blood in the east alley of Francisco, police said at the time.
The person who heard the shots saw a vehicle fleeing the scene, but a description wasn’t released. The man originally was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Police and court records indicate no one has been arrested or charged in shooting.
