Looks like the city of Chicago is going to be home to yet another Dick Wolf drama.

“It would probably be in the legal system,” Wolf, executive producer of the existing “Chicago” television franchises, teased at a Television Critics Association winter press tour recently.

Wolf, of former “Law and Order” fame, has launched a Chicago-based trio of dramas on NBC with “Chicago Fire” in 2012, before adding spin-offs “Chicago P.D.” in 2014 and “Chicago Med” last year. The success of “Chicago Med” gave Wolf the greenlight he needed to begin exploring another show to take place in Chicago.

He added that viewers may see, “the same way they saw the last three years, some people doing legal things that would give an insight into where that would go.” In Wolf speak, this means we will see a new legal character in an upcoming season of a”Chicago P.D.” who will then be used to launch “Chicago Law.”

So, is this happening? Yes. According to Variety, NBC executives have already met with the mega-producer to discuss expanding the franchise yet again. “Law” is reportedly officially in development, with a likely midseason 2016-17 debut.

“To have these three shows operating this synergistically is beyond my expectations,” Wolf said of his existing dramas. “My instinct is always to double down.”
