This week’s list easily could have been all locals, with incredible new singles from artists like Joey Purp, Saba and Into It. Over It. hitting our earbuds. However, with Kendrick Lamar’s otherworldly “Fallon” performance and Athens band Mothers blowing us away with a new single, we had to spread the love around. Check out the 5 best songs of the week below.
5. Joey Purp, “Performance Art Freestyle.”
I’d take Joey Purp up against any member of Savemoney in a freestyle. Even Chance.
4. Saba, “GPS”
Saba’s going to blow up in 2016. His last tape, 2014’s “ComfortZone,” should have done the trick, but it really should happen after his appearance on Chance the Rapper’s “Angels” and now this song, which features an assist from his father Chandlar.
3. Mothers, “Copper Mines”
Sweet merciful crap is this band great.
2. Into It., Over It., “No EQ”
Evan Weiss is back as Into It. Over It. to follow-up the band’s excellent 2013 album “Intersections.” Judging by this single, the new one is going to be a little weirder and wonkier but still incredible.
1. Kendrick Lamar, “Untitled 2”

Hearing “Untitled 2,” which Kendrick Lamar debuted last week on “Fallon,” kind of feels like we’re witnessing history, doesn’t it?
