Long before John Boyega’s breakout role as Finn in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the 23-year-old U.K. actor struck out on his own as a stock image model. Even stars in the biggest movie ever, currently destroying all-time box office records with a Starkiller base-superweapon, had to start somewhere.
Pictures of Boyega’s Getty-filled past surfaced on Imgur, a popular photo sharing site, after a University of Nebraska student spotted the star as a cute teenager in the background of a college poster.
As it turns out, the pictures come from a series of Getty images taken by photographer Chris Schmidt. He wrote on Facebook, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… I did an education themed stock photo shoot with a bunch of teenage students; it turns out John Boyega did quite well afterwards. The force is strong with this one…”
For his part, Boyega charmingly joked about the pictures on Twitter.
