A man has died from a head wound suffered in a shooting early Christmas Day in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, authorities said.
Franklin Carlos Aguilar, 39, was pronounced dead at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Aguilar died from complications from a gunshot wound to the head, the office found following an autopsy Thursday.

Aguilar was hit in the head and initially taken in “grave condition” to Stroger Hospital, police said at the time. A 20-year-old man was grazed in the back and refused medical treatment, Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman, said at the time.
The two men were in a car, stopped at a traffic light, when someone in a dark-colored vehicle pulled up beside them, and someone inside began firing, hitting the two men, police said. The attackers then fled.
