Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Now that we’re all rejuvenated from Christmas break, it’s time to get back into the habit of going to shows. With the Hush Sound and local favorites Santah playing Thalia Hall, Neon Indian, the Promise Ring and Diarrhea Planet ringing in the New Year and the 70+ band Ian’s Party taking over Wicker Park to kick off 2016, there’s a wealth of concerts you just have to see this week.

Tuesday: The Hush Sound and Santah at Thalia Hall.

Chicago’s the Hush Sound continues its extended reunion with a blowout show at Thalia Hall. Santah, who had one of the year’s best local releases in “Chico” are main support. It’s going to be great, and tickets are still available.

Wednesday and Thursday: Diarrhea Planet at Lincoln Hall.

Diarrhea Planet hasn’t done much since 2013’s “I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams” besides tour incessantly, and that’s OK: the band is still one of the most fun acts you can catch live. Tickets are sold out.

Thursday: Neon Indian (DJ Set) at the East Room.

Neon Indian’s bonkers new album “Vega Intl. Night School” was a total dance party, so it’s only fitting that the artist (Texas musician Alan Palomo) is bringing his groovy synth-pop DJ set to the East Room. Tickets are sold out.

Thursday: The Promise Ring and Into It. Over It. at Metro.

I already wrote about the Promise Ring reuniting to play “Nothing Feels Good” in full at Metro in our New Year’s Eve roundup. You can read my preview here. Unsurprisingly, tickets are sold out.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Ian’s Party featuring The Brokedowns, Meat Wave, Truman and His Trophy, Al Scorch, Melkbelly and many more at Double Door, Subterranean and Chop Shop.

Melkbelly – Bathroom at the Beach

from Really Really Nice on Vimeo.

Looking at the insane lineup for Ian’s Party, a three-night, three-venue event that features more than 70 Midwestern punk and noise bands, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Taking place at Subterranean, Chop Shop and Double Door, it boasts local heavy hitters like Elgin’s the Brokedowns, Meat Wave, Truman and His Trophy, Al Scorch, Melkbelly and so much more. It’s going to be so hard to figure out how to balance such an overwhelming schedule. Probably the best festival deal in the city all year, advance tickets for three-day passes are $25 and can be bought here.

Bonus:
