Police said an apparent drug deal led to the shooting of a 22-year-old man on Hill Avenue in Aurora.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Nov. 26 in a parking lot in the 200 block of Hill Avenue.

A 22-year-old Calumet City man apparently got into an altercation over drugs with a man inside a black Jeep Cherokee or similar vehicle, police said. That’s when the shots were fired.

Ferrelli said the 22-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and has since been treated and released from an Aurora hospital.

Police are investigating whether shots were exchanged by both parties, or solely from inside the SUV.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information should call investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
