A 13-year-old boy who was caught trying to steal a vehicle Thursday evening was chased down by a woman and kept in a headlock until police arrived, Aurora police said.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said a 24-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were moving boxes between the man’s 2013 Chevrolet Sonic and an apartment in the 2000 block of Best Place around 7:10 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Police said the pair had left the keys inside the vehicle as they were moving boxes, and when the woman came out of the apartment she saw the 13-year-old in the driver’s seat. She said two other people were standing outside the vehicle on the passenger’s side, and all three took off running when she approached.
According to Ferrelli, the woman was able to chase the 13-year-old around several buildings and eventually catch him. She put him in a headlock and held him until police arrived on scene, Ferrelli said.
