Kenilworth police are investigating as a suicide the Nov. 13 death of a 58-year-old woman whose body was found lying on the Kenilworth Metra station platform, Kenilworth Police Chief David Miller said Nov. 16.

A pedestrian reported to police finding the body shortly after 6:40 p.m., Miller said. Winnetka paramedics pronounced the woman, whose last known address was in Evanston, dead at the scene, he said.

“Everything we’ve looked at indicates no foul play. We’re investigating it as a suicide,” Miller said, adding that members of the woman’s family have been notified of her death. He said police were not releasing the woman’s name.

A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiners office said Nov. 16 that its investigation of the case is pending.

Miller said police found the woman on the west platform of the Kenilworth Metra station. He also said police did not know which train might have struck the woman.

Train service on Metra’s Union Pacific North line was halted from between 90 minutes to two hours that night, according to officials who spoke Nov. 13. According to Metra’s website, all inbound and outbound trains were stopped for various lengths of time due to police activity but were moving again with extensive delays after 8:30 p.m.
