Chicago-based Foxtrot, a food, beverage and sundry delivery startup, has raised $1.1 million and announced that it will open a second storefront location, in the West Loop, on Nov. 16.

The hybrid e-commerce and brick-and-mortar shop will expand to a 1,700-square-foot space at 1019 W. Lake St., with a location that is meant to mimic the “try something new” nature of its mobile app. It adds to the company’s Lincoln Park location, at 2229 N. Clybourn Ave.

The stores will stock the same offerings as in the app, which offers packages like “Game Day Essentials” with beer, chips and dip and a la carte Chicago favorites like Bang Bang Pie treats and Revolution brews. For a $5 delivery fee, Chicagoans can order delivery of any of Foxtrot’s items for delivery within the hour.

“We learned a lot from our first store,” Foxtrot CEO Mike LaVitola said. “This one is much bigger, better-designed and meant for people to spend time checking out new products.”

LaVitola said the company plans to perfect the in-store experience, then expand to other cities. Foxtrot employs 25, including in-store staff and couriers.

The funding round, which closed in June, allowed the company to build out the team and create the concept for the new store, LaVitola said.

The funding includes investments from venture investor Lon Chow, Trunk Club co-founder Kevin Price and ChicagoNext chairman Mark Tebbe ?.

“What GrubHub has proven to the industry is people are willing to pay for convenience — so he’s following on that trend,” Tebbe said of LaVitola.
