The roof of a Wheaton shopping center caught fire early Wednesday morning, fire officials said.
About 1 a.m., the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a roof fire above Cardinal Fitness, in the shopping center at 266 E. Geneva Road.
The fire was confined to the roof space and brought under control within about 20 minutes, officials said in a news release.
No one was injured. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental, and appears to have been related to the electrical supply for a lighted building sign, officials said. No damage estimates were made immediately available.
