On a windy and sunny Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Sunset Valley Golf Course in Highland Park, Deerfield sophomore Elyse Emerzian shot a 4-over 76 to earn medalist honors at the Central Suburban girls golf tournament.

Emerzian was one of only three in the 56-player field to shoot in the 70s. Glenbrook North junior Emma Vickery took second with a 77 and New Trier senior Louise McCulloch was third after carding a 78.

“I am satisfied,” said Emerzian, who had three birdies in her round. “It could have been better, but I missed some putts on the back nine.”

New Trier won the team title with its 335, edging out Glenbrook North’s 336. Glenbrook South followed with a 342. The Trevians, who were undefeated in league dual meets, won the overall conference championship.

A day earlier, senior Matt Murlick shot a 1-under 69 to lead the New Trier boys golf team to the Central Suburban South championship at Sportsman’s Country Club in Northbrook.

The Trevians posted a 17-over 297 to beat Glenbrook South’s 310 by 13 strokes. Maine South (314), Niles West (318), Evanston (342) and Waukegan (400) rounded out the tournament standings.

From his No. 5 position in the lineup, Glenbrook North’s Jimmy Alcorn was a difference-maker on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Central Suburban North boys golf tournament.

The senior’s 82 earned the Spartans the fifth-score tiebreaker and gave Glenbrook North the conference championship. Both the Spartans and Highland Park shot 320s at Glencoe Golf Club, but Alcorn’s score was the difference.

Highland Park senior Noah Fishbein was the medalist after carding a 4-over 76. Glenbrook North senior Daniel Cole took second with a 77.
