A pedestrian was critically injured Saturday morning after he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street in Aurora, police said.

The 44-year-old man was in the crosswalk walking eastbound at Farnsworth Avenue and Marshall Boulevard around 11:25 a.m. when he was hit by a southbound Buick Enclave, police said.

Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the pedestrian was taken to an Aurora hospital and then airlifted to a suburban Chicago hospital with serious head injuries.

The SUV’s driver, Daniel Santacruz-Quezada, 28, 500 block of Grand Avenue, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, driving on a revoked license and no insurance.

Ferrelli said two male teens, ages 13 and 16, were inside the SUV and not injured during the accident.
