The shots were fired around 8:45 p.m. in the 0-99 block of North Webster Street where several men were involved in an argument in the middle of the street, police said.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said one of the men involved went back to his red, four-door vehicle and got a handgun at some point during the fight.
When he returned, the man fired several shots, hitting a 30-year-old Aurora man in the back and ankles.
Ferrelli said the 30-year-old man sustained serious but apparently non-life threatening injuries. He was treated at an Aurora hospital and later transferred to a suburban Chicago hospital.
According to witnesses, after the shots were fired the gunman got back into the red vehicle and drove away.
Ferrelli said officers received varying descriptions of the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
