The gunfire damage was discovered by police during a traffic stop at 11:55 a.m. when Alexander Grullon, 19, 100 block of Root Street, was stopped for speeding.
When police ran Grullon’s records they learned his driver’s license had been revoked. They also learned that Grullon had a warrant out for his arrest in Cook County.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said that during the stop, officers noticed what appeared to be a bullet hole in Grullon’s vehicle. When questioned about the damage Grullon told police that the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 4 while the vehicle was parked on the 100 block of Root Street.
Ferrelli said Grullon reported hearing one shot, but said he never looked outside for fear of getting shot. Grullon also never reported the incident to police.
