Aurora police are investigating two shootings, one of which occurred late Monday night.
Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said officers responded to a call for shots fired around midnight Monday in the 0-99 block of North Anderson Street.
There, officers found numerous shell casings in the street, as well as in the bed of a pickup truck that was parked nearby.
In a driveway, officers also located broken glass, indicating that a vehicle had been shot, Ferrelli said. There was no description of that vehicle.
Witnesses described seeing several different vehicles speeding away from the scene, but it is not clear whether any of those vehicles were connected to the shootings.
No one and nothing other than the vehicle appeared to have been struck by bullets. The pickup truck where the shell casings were located does not appear to be connected to the actual shooting, Ferrelli said.
Investigators are also investigating a Monday afternoon shooting that took place in the 1000 block of North Avenue.
Ferrelli said police were called to the block around 3 p.m. after residents reporting hearing gunshots. No one was injured.
According to Ferrelli, the shooter was allegedly on foot when he shot at a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on North Avenue. Several other men met up with the shooter and they all got into a gray SUV that also fled eastbound from the scene.
Ferrelli said the investigation continues into the shooting.
One man who lives on the 1000 block of North Avenue allegedly refused to follow officers’ orders during their investigation. Ferrelli said Gheronica Suggs, 19, was charged with obstructing a peace officer.
Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
