Ten people were wounded in shootings Tuesday on the city’s South, Far South and Southwest sides, officials said.
In the most recent shooting, a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday near 61st Street and Hermitage Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood. He told police he heard shots and was wounded. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Also on the South Side, a man was shot about 7:52 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Drexel Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The 19-year-old was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
A few minutes earlier on the Southwest Side, three teens were shot on 38th Street between Sacramento and California avenues about 7:40 p.m., according to an official. One was shot in the side, one was shot in the leg and one was shot in the arm. One of the victims ran to near Kedzie Avenue and 39th Place before emergency crews caught up with him. The three — 17, 18, and 19 — are in good condition, police said. The two older teens were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, and the youngest was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County.
In another South Side shooting, 17-year-old boy was shot about 6:45 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Langley Avenue in the city’s West Woodlawn neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police Department spokesman. Preliminary reports said a 17-year-old boy was a passenger in a vehicle when he heard shots and soon after felt pain in the back. The driver took the boy to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but he was then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Sweeney said.
Another person was shot farther south about 6:15 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Champlain Avenue in the city’s Greater Grand Crossing community, Sweeney said. According to preliminary information, a 20-year old man was approached by someone who shot him. The victim suffered wounds to his leg and hand and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, Sweeney said.
On the Far North Side, someone shot a 27-year-old man about 5:01 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 1600 block of West Sherwin Avenue in the Rogers Park neighborhood. He suffered abdominal and leg wounds and was taken to St. Francis Hospital, police said.

Earlier Tuesday, two men were wounded in shootings in the city’s Roseland neighborhood. The latest of those attacks happened about 3:30 p.m. in the first block of East 102nd Place, Sweeney said. A 21-year-old man was on a sidewalk when someone jumped out of a van, fired shots and fled the scene, Sweeney said. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Tuesday morning, another 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the back in Roseland. That shooting happened about 10:45 a.m. in the 11400 block of South Prairie Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman, citing preliminary information. The man told officers he was on a porch when someone approached and fired in his direction, Estrada said. The man also was taken to Advocate Christ, where his condition was stabilized.
No one was in custody in connection with any of the shootings, and Area South detectives were investigating.
