EVENTS

VETERANS PROGRAM: As we honor the men and women who died while serving their country this Memorial Day, Mundelein Park & Recreation District pays tribute by helping the wounded, ill or injured military personnel by providing a way of transitioning back into the community through fitness. Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies program (healthymindshealthybodies.org) offers veterans two free one-year memberships to Park View Health & Fitness; one for the veteran and one for a workout partner of their choice. Also included is up to 15 free personal training sessions for the veteran, networking opportunities and support. The veteran’s commitment to HMHB is a set schedule of training sessions and/or solo work in addition to attending the monthly socials. To qualify for HMHB at Park View Health & Fitness, a veteran needs: honorable/medical discharge on DD214, 10 percent disability rating or higher assigned by the VA, disability rating applied for, in medical review, or under appeal, non-service connected injury, note from civilian doctor, VOC/PVA representative and must reside within the SRACLC (sraclc.org) boundaries. The program offers professional guidance to set up on a safe fitness routine and a successful path to reach goals. HMHB includes monthly networking opportunities to provide mentoring, peer support and connecting with other veteran organizations. These socials vary from speakers, workshops, to activities in a “veteran-friendly” atmosphere. Details, (847) 388-5430.
