At the Northlake Library board, five newcomers were elected as library commissioners Tuesday night.
The library board started out as the single most contested race in Franklin Park or Northlake, with nine people having registered to run for six seats. Incumbents Maureen Sydor, Renee Wright and Aracely Gutierrez registered to run for reelection. They faced a group of six newcomers who were registered to run by the same person. They are Elizabeth Biddle, Diane Sampson, Toni Glowinski, Jesus Herrera, Joseph R. Klinger and Judith M. Wason.
Sydor and Wright were knocked out of contention by signature challenges although challenges against Gutierrez were dropped. Klinger later dropped out of the race, leaving the final election uncontested.
Glowinski, Wason and Gutierrez won six-year terms; Biddle won a four-year term; Herrera and Sampson won two-year terms.
The newcomers now find themselves in control of the library board, with five of the seven seats.
