Effie Perakis of Glenview won the 7- to 9-year-old girls division of the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals on Sunday at Augusta National, site of this week’s Masters Tournament.
She finished with 22 points out of a possible 30. She scored a 5 in driving, an 8 in chipping and a 9 in putting. The maximum score in each discipline was a 10. Charlie Whorton finished second with 20 points.
A total of 40 boys and girls competed Sunday in four age groups. Perakis was one of three golfers from the Chicago area. Caroline Smith of Inverness was 10th in the girls 12-13 division. Jimmy Morton of Sugar Grove was eighth in the boys 14-15 division.
