A woman smashed her vehicle into a tree after veering off the road early Saturday morning, Aurora police said.
Cristina Alagaban, 27, 200 block of North Gregory Street, Aurora, was not injured when she crashed her vehicle near South Frontenac Street and Kitts Court around 3:02 a.m.
Police said Alagaban was driving southbound on Frontenac Street when her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, went over a curb and struck a tree.
Alagaban told police that she got distracted when someone on the street waved at her.
When officers arrived, they found Alagaban still inside her vehicle. When she got out, police said Alagaban was swaying from side to side and slurred her words.
Police said she failed a sobriety test and was charged with drunken driving. She was also cited for improper lane usage.
