A homeless man has died nine days after being hit by a car in Northlake.

William C. Jensen, 49, whose last known address was the 3200 block of West Arthington Street in Chicago, was found lying in Lake Street just east of Railroad Avenue at 12:37 a.m. March 15.

“He was breathing at the time but had sustained some pretty serious injuries,” said Northlake police Detective Juan Duarte.

He was taken to Loyola Hospital in Maywood, where he was treated and put on life support. He died at 5:38 p.m. March 24, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The medical examiner’s office ruled his death an accident, due to being struck by a car, after examining Jensen on Friday.

Grecia Sanchez, 19, of Gladstone Drive, Glendale Heights, was cited for no valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance, driving too fast for conditions and not exercising due care as a driver.

Northlake police are still investigating the incident, Duarte said.
