A registered sex offender in River Grove was recently arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.

Thomas Yager, 48, of the 3000 block of Boyle Terrace, was arrested March 9 at the River Grove Police Department and charged with predatory criminal sexual assault. According to police, in February, the mother of the victim came into the River Grove Police Department to report that Yager had inappropriately touched her daughter.

Yager was ordered held in the Cook County Jail in lieu of $350,000 bail in a hearing in Maywood Branch Court on Wednesday, according to court records.

River Grove Police Det. Rudy Krall said Boyle is a registered sex offender and registered in the village. He said Yager lives with the grandmother of the child he allegedly assaulted in the home and that she was aware that he was a registered sex offender.

After being brought in for questioning, Yager was placed under arrest.

“We went through a lot of interviews with him and he came into the police station and was placed into custody,” he said.

Krall said Yager was last arrested on a similar charge in 2011 in Wisconsin, where he was accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl.

Yager is next scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
