Locals will have a chance to raise cash for Elmwood Park schools while moving their feet to the beat this weekend.

It’s a fundraiser for the Elmwood Park Educational Foundation, which was formed to create partnerships with the community and businesses in an effort to support School District 401. The foundation’s cash helps support the school district’s educational, social and athletic activities.

On Saturday, March 14, the foundation plans to continue in its fundraising tradition with a “Steppin’ into Spring’ dance event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Elmcrest Banquets, 7370 W. Grand Ave. After expenses, all of the money raised through ticket sales, raffles, donations and proceeds from a silent auction will go to enrichment programs for the district’s pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students.

Al Fang, chairman of the foundation, said this event is the foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The foundation hopes to raise all or a major portion of the foundation’s $20,000 goal for the year at the March 14 event.

“There’s going to be dancing, a DJ, a buffet, a lot of raffles and it’s going to be a fun time all around,” he said.

Tickets are $50 per person and $80 per couple. For more information about the event or to buy tickets, go to http://www.ep401foundation.org or 708-583-5833.
