“Marvel’s Daredevil” may be a comic-book adaptation, but when it debuts on Netflix in April viewers won’t be watching a light, sunny take on the blind fighter. The latest trailer teases an action-packed, noirish thriller.

British actor Charlie Cox plays blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego—crime-fighter Daredevil. In the trailer, Murdock visits a priest to seek absolution for “what I’m about to do.” Cue the explosions, the acrobatics and the fighting.

The 13-episode first season premieres at 2:01 a.m. April 10 on Netflix. It’s executive produced by showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”) and writer Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods”), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”).

According to Netflix, Matt Murdock was blinded as a boy but gained extraordinary senses. He now fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

Joining Cox in the series are Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Additional cast members include Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna, Vondie Curtis Hall as Ben Urich, Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley and Toby Leonard Moore as Wesley.
