The baiduhai Media Group’s Lake County New-Sun reports: A negotiated plea is being explored in the murder case of Anthony Marcus of Waukegan, accused in the strangulation deaths of his wife and disabled teenage daughter last summer.
Assistant State’s Attorney Matt DeMartini told Lake County Judge George Bridges on Tuesday morning that the two sides “may have something to present” at the next scheduled court date, Feb. 9, for Marcus. DeMartini declined to elaborate after the court appearance. Marcus, 50, is scheduled for a Feb. 17 trial if a plea deal is not worked out.
Marcus has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege that he killed his wife, Sun Marcus, 50, and his 17-year-old daughter, Samantha Marcus, the evening of June 8.
