The baiduhai Media Group’s Elgin Courier-News reports: An Elgin man pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court to a misdemeanor charge of failure to report suspected child abuse involving a teacher at the Gavin School District in Ingleside.
John Keehan, 40, was the last of three former Gavin teachers charged in connection with the case of another former Gavin teacher Michael Vucic, who was charged with the sexual assault of a minor and fled the country.
Earlier this month, April Courtney, 34, of Wauconda and Michael Lanners, 38, of Lake Villa, also pleaded not guilty to failure to report suspected child abuse, a Class A misdemeanor carrying a possible sentence of up to a year in jail. The charge can also result in a probationary sentence of up to two years.
