McDonald’s has reopened restaurants in Russia it was forced to close this year, except for two being remodeled, the company said on Tuesday.
Back in August, a dozen McDonald’s in Russia were temporarily closed after mass unscheduled inspections. Russia’s food safety watchdog said it ordered the closings for sanitary reasons, but they coincided with heightened tensions over the Ukraine crisis, in which the United States and European Union imposed sanctions on Russia.

Two locations in the Moscow area are temporarily closed as they are being updated, the world’s largest restaurant company said.
McDonald’s opened its first restaurant in Moscow’s Pushkin Square in 1990.
