Bolingbrook’s village board Tuesday voted to authorize a “high-end apartment community” to be built on 21 vacant acres at the southwest corner of Janes Avenue and Falconridge Way.
Lennar Multifamily Communities, LLC, initially got approval to build on the site in 2009.
Its revised plan approved Tuesday will consist of 288 apartment units housed in nine three-story buildings, according to village documents. The plan includes a clubhouse and 10 detached garage buildings as well. The 2009 proposal initially called for about 320 units, as well as office space. Company representatives said they hope to have the site built in about a year.
The subdivision will also include 436 parking spaces, retention ponds and a 4-foot high fence along the outer property lines.
Also Tuesday, the board voted to authorize the purchase of 11 replacement police vehicles from Advantage Chevrolet of Bolingbrook.
The approximately $242,500 for the vehicles will come from “asset forfeiture funds.”
Police Chief Kevin McCarthy said his department has an officer on an area drug task force, which allows Bolingbrook to claim a share of drug assets seized.
“There have been quite a few of them over the past few years,” he said.
The board also signed off Tuesday on a new Dunkin Donuts at 760 S. Weber Road.
It also approved the establishment of an O’Reilly Auto Parts shop at 440 N. Bolingbrook Dr., as well as a Marco’s Pizza at 693 W. Boughton Road.
Board members also approved a new lease agreement with American Capital Financial Services, Inc. to replace 12-year-old equipment at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.
The agreement will cost Bolingbrook about $4,000 a month for five years, at which point the village will own the equipment.
