For Cameron Green, the decision came down to this: take Northwestern’s offer or wait on a possible one from Michigan State, where sister Haley will be a freshman in the fall.
In the end, Green followed the advice of his mother, Sandy Kanardy.

“She stressed academics and said: ‘Take the best offer you have and be grateful for it,'” Green said in a telephone interview.
By saying yes to Northwestern, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver from Lincolnshire’s Stevenson High School becomes the 15thcommitment of NU’s 2015 class – and the third pass-catcher to commit in the past 48 hours.
The previous pledges came from the 6-foot-4-inch Charlie Fessler of Erie, Pa., and a 5-8 speedster from Baltimore named Jelani Roberts.
Roberts, who held offers from Boston College and several Ivy League schools, has sub 4-4 speed. Fessler reportedly was being courted by Nebraska.
Green might be the highest-rated of the three. He was also a prime target for Northwestern because few elite Chicago-area players in the 2015 class can qualify academically.
“I might not be the fastest guy,” Green said of his play, “but I bring lot of heart to the game and a lot of energy.”
