Northwestern announced the transfer of former Rutgers receiver Miles Shuler, a move expected after Shuler visited campus and attended football practice Wednesday.

Shuler will enroll in fall classes and have two years of eligibility, starting next season.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound speedster appeared in 30 games for Rutgers over two seasons, making five catches for 71 yards and seven rushes for 69 yards. He also blocked a punt and returned one punt for 23 yards.

Shuler won the New Jersey state championship in the 100-meter dash and the indoor 55-meter dash for Long Branch High School. Northwestern was among the many programs offering him a scholarship, along with Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Stanford.
