Five people were taken to hospitals after a fire broke out at a southwest suburban assisted living center Monday afternoon when a resident tried to dry clothes in a microwave.
The resident and four staff members at the Emeritus at Burr Ridge were taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation, according to a statement released from the facility.

Other residents were relocated following the fire at the home at 6801 High Grove Boulevard, which started a little before 5 p.m.
The sprinkler system was activated and the fire department reported minimal smoke and water damage.
