Bond was set at $3 million for a Chicago man charged with first-degree murder in the drive-by shooting of two 20-year-olds in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Anthony Johnson, 26, a self-proclaimed gang member, allegedly drove his Chevy Tahoe to the 5300 block of South Hoyne Avenue at 4:47 p.m. May 10 and leaned back in his seat to give his passenger a clearer shot, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Ericka Graunke said.

Using a semi-automatic handgun, the passenger fired several shots at the two men who were sitting on the front porch of a home. Each was hit once in the chest.
One of the men died at the scene. The other made a “dying declaration” to police by naming the shooter, Graunke said Sunday in bond court. The second victim died a day after the incident. The alleged gunman has not been arrested.
Within hours of the shooting, Johnson was arrested at his home in the 5500 block of South Damen Avenue — less than a half-mile from the murder — after his vehicle was identified by witnesses and its registration led investigators to his address, Graunke said.
