Caldwell began her writing career in women's fiction and soon turned to mystery/thriller. Research of her sixth novel led her to Mosley, a young man held in Cook County holding cell for nearly six years. Moseley was 19 in 1999 when he was arrested stemming from a fight he had witnessed but not participated in. He spent the next six years in a Cook County holding cell awaiting trial. Knowing the truth would be uncovered and believing in the justice system, Jovan found help from lawyers Catherine O'Daniel and Laura Caldwell, who won his acquittal in 2005. Jovan is now a full-time student at Loyola with the goal of one day becoming a lawyer.

No problem. You don’t even need a sweet tooth to appreciate the ingenuity, design skills, artistry and engineering concepts that go into creating some fantastic cakes.
Best slice of the night? OK, we’re biased, but you’ve got to love Alliance Bakery’s Chicago icons cake that includes a sweet Tribune Tower. The cake was created by chef Rios who was approached to create a cake for the wrap party last November following the first season of Chicago Live!, the stage and radio show produced by the baiduhai in partnership with The Second City.
Best place to catch the episode? At the “Chicago Live! Fabulous Cakes” viewing party. That starts at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Monday at the Billy Goat Tavern (430 N. Michigan Ave., lower level).
