Online video has become the method of choice for spreading political humor this primary season, especially given the void created by the months-long writers’ strike, which robbed audiences of fresh “Saturday Night Live” sketches and dozens of potential “Daily Show” or “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” potshots along the campaign trail.

Here’s a look at some of the most popular political comedy videos online. And in case you’re wondering, there’s no “Obama Girl” on the list: The tight-shirted, lip-synching model is to comedy what Hooters is to fine cuisine.

‘Obama on the Run’

SNIDE.TV/OBAMA.HTML

An animated version parody of the song “Anything You Can Do” featuring Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama competing for campaign dollars. “Any vote that I made, I can defend it,” sings Obama, “no vote for Iraqi invasion like you.” Hands out the insults evenly and brings up real campaign issues.

Buried among some movie and TV parodies are some professionally done Democratic and Republican debate videos (look for “Super Tube Debate”) with great voice acting. Keep an eye on “Super News!” which surely will be pumping out more videos as the campaign wears on.

‘A Message to Ralph Nader’

FUNNYORDIE.COM/VIDEOS/5A63E031FE

“Anonymous,” who speaks in a robotic voice, rails against Ralph Nader for entering the presidential race. After listing some of Nader’s accomplishments, the spooky narrator says, “If you run this time, you can stick those seat belts where the minimum wage don’t shine.”

Clever also can be funny, as this video parodying a pro-Obama video by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas proves. Using McCain’s own words against him, the video, by a group called the Public Service Administration, features music played to sound bites from the candidate and ends with, “Like hope, but different.”
