Playing its best game of the young season, New Trier sliced apart Warren with a 61-50 victory Saturday in the Shootout at the Hall.

And 6-foot-6-inch Jack Boehm had his best game to date, drilling six three-pointers and leading all scorers with 27 points. His deep three early in the fourth quarter gave New Trier (7-2) a commanding 55-36 lead.

The Assembly Hall court, which is larger than the high school version, enhanced the Trevians’ myriad hard cuts and precision plays in their half-court attack.

Jack’s twin brother Peter Boehm finished with 12 points and seven assists while Tim McCrary had 13 points and nine rebounds. Illinois recruit Brandon Paul led Warren (5-3) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

New Trier’s 1-3-1 zone defense with an occasional box-and-one on Paul frustrated the Blue Devils in the first half. Meanwhile, Jack Boehm was right on target, connecting on five of his first eight shots (two three-pointers) for 13 points by halftime. Peter Boehm and Tim McCrary combined for 14 points in the first two quarters. Boehm had five assists in the first half.

Paul, the 6-foot-2-inch junior who has committed to Illinois, misfired on seven of his first nine shots. But he did beat the halftime buzzer with a 55-foot shot to go into the locker room with eight points as Warren trailed 29-18.
