The Public League football team lost to Clemente 21-6 last Tuesday in the semifinals of the Chicago Conference playoffs but filed a protest after the game.
“We determined that Clemente had used an ineligible player and had to forfeit that game,” Public League football coordinator Mickey Pruitt said Friday. “Clark will move on and play Julian Sunday in the championship game at Gately Stadium.”
The 24 teams in the Chicago Conference are not eligible to compete in the state playoffs and conduct their own postseason tournament. The Public League aligned the strongest programs in the 24-team Illini Conference, whose members are eligible for state competition.
