Tiger Woods is 2-up on his golf buddy John Smoltz.
The Atlanta Braves pitcher told radio station WQXI-AM in Atlanta earlier this week that he and Woods have an ongoing “friendly” wager. For every golf tournament victory, Woods gets the equivalent of three wins as a baseball pitcher.
After Sunday’s win in the World Golf Championship Bridgestone Invitational, Woods has four victories this season — or 12 baseball wins. Smoltz has 10 wins, meaning Woods is leading by two. Smoltz told the radio station Woods sent him a text message after Sunday’s victory to remind him he was now winning the bet. Smoltz said he figured he needs 18 wins to have a chance against Woods.
