After avoiding reporters seeking comment following the Michael Barrett trade, Carlos Zambrano finally touched the subject Friday.
“Sad,” he said of his feelings about his longtime catcher and recent combatant who was hipped to San Diego on Wednesday. “Believe me, I didn’t want to talk to you about this, not because I didn’t want to talk about Michael but because of having him [so] many years. Nobody wants to be traded. I know he didn’t want be traded and it’s sad to watch him go, but I wish him the best [and] wherever he will be next year I wish him the best. He’s a great guy and that’s all I have to say about him.”
Zambrano also said the two had not talked since the trade.
